MDR is the main cause of cancer chemotherapy failure. The typical MDR phenotype is mainly due to the overexpression of membrane glycoproteins such as Pgp (ca 170 kDa, the most important molecule) and MRP (ca 190 kDa), both of which belong to the superfamily of ABC transporters, and to other membrane proteins such as LRP
