• Beta-lactams : - still do the job in pneumococcal CAP (MIC < 2mcg/ml) - should be adequately dosed : to obtain T>MIC: > 40% of dosing interval to prevent further emergence of resistance

• New « respiratory » antimicrobials : not needed in first choice
